In addition to high-contrast CT scans and MRIs, we offer several other imaging methods. At Sanford Radiology, you are in good hands.

High-Field MRI and Open MRI for Claustrophobic Patients

When you and your doctor are concerned about fractures, obstructions, cysts, tumors, or other abnormalities, an MRI is done. Using the Hitachi open MRI unit, we perform full-body scans with or without contrast to allow you and your doctor to determine your next action. MRI scans take about 10 to 30 minutes, and all of your images are available to your doctor as soon as we read the scan and upload them to the database.

High-Contrast CT Imaging for In-Depth Diagnostics

To view high-resolution images of your abdominal body, chest, head, sinuses, spine, or head, a high-contrast CT provides the insight your doctor needs to determine any injuries or damage to your body. Scans take between 5 and 20 minutes to complete, and results are viewable by your doctor on the same day. We use a GE CT scanner to obtain detailed diagnostic images.

Benefits of Lung Cancer Screening

  • Because CT scans can detect even very small nodules in the lung, Low-Dose CT (LDCT) of the chest is especially effective for diagnosing lung cancer at its earliest, most treatable stage.
  • CT is fast, which is important for patients who have trouble holding their breath.
  • CT scanning is painless and noninvasive.
  • Low-dose CT scans of the chest products are of sufficient quality to detect many lung diseases and abnormalities using up to 90% less ionizing radiation than a conventional chest CT scan.
  • Lung cancer screening with LDTC has been proven to reduce the number of deaths from lung cancer in patients at high risk.
  • When cancer is found with screening, patients can more often undergo minimally invasive surgery and have less lung tissue removed.

Criteria for Lung Cancer Screening
